According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, an affinity group is defined as “a group of people having a common interest or a goal or acting together for a specific purpose.” Reflecting diverse interests and backgrounds, our affinity groups contribute to leadership development, policy formation and advocacy events and activities, while providing personal and professional networking opportunities for members. Currently, we have five affinity groups: African American Alumni Association, CWRU Pride LGBT Network, Jewish Alumni Network, Undergraduate Student Government and the Latino Alumni Network.
Interested in joining an affinity group? Contact The Alumni Association at 216.368.6280 (toll-free: 800.866.6280) or email@example.com.
African American Alumni Association
The African American Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University was officially established in October 2009. The Association elected its officers and board of directors, as well as began populating their committees during Alumni Weekend 2010.
CWRU Pride Alumni Network
The CWRU Pride Alumni Network is open to all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university.
Jewish Alumni Network
In collaboration with Hillel at CWRU, the Jewish Alumni Network was recently established to help Jewish alumni reconnect with old friends, find out who's in your area, and learn about alumni events. You can also help provide tips for recent Jewish graduates or alumni relocating into your area, network socially and professionally, and meet with current students and give them a reason to stay connected!
Whether you want to meet other Jewish graduates, mentor, or just be a part of an affinity group, this is the place to get and stay connected.
The USG Alumni Network was recently created to promote the advancement and the best interests of Case Western Reserve University's Undergraduate Student Government and its alumni by striving to:
- Provide a resource to current USG members and facilitate year-to-year continuity.
- Help USG members develop leadership skills and prepare to enter the work force.
- Help USG alumni keep in touch with one another and arrange for social events.
Latino Alumni Network
The Latino Alumni Association strives to build a supportive and active alumni organization within the larger CWRU community through networking and fellowship opportunities. Also, the Latino Alumni Network seeks to support current Latino students, in alignment with CWRU’s core value of diversity and inclusion.
