M. Elena Fernández

M. Elena Fernández was born and raised in Northern Spain. She came to the United States where she studied and graduated from Cleveland State University in 2000 with a master's degree in Spanish. Currently pursuing a certificate in Latin American Studies enables her to have a better understanding and appreciation of the other Hispanic cultures. Before teaching at Case Western Reserve University, she taught at Cleveland State University, Lake Erie College and Lakeland Community College. Beginning, intermediate and advanced Spanish language courses were among the classes she taught. Her research interest at this time is the Mexican writer Elena Garro.

M. Elena is a member of Sigma Delta Pi and Midwest Association of Latin American Studies. Being involved with the university activities allows her to learn more and appreciate her students and colleagues.
