I am a Chilean poet (whatever that means) who is aware of his paradoxical place in Academia, outside the realm of Creative Writing schools. I have published seven books of poetry and I was Writer in Residence at the International Writing Program, at The University of Iowa. My research interests range from Latin American Poetry to Marxist Literary Theory. Currently, I am working on the manuscript of my book Crimen sin castigo (Crime without Punishment), where I trace the links between Latin America hard boiled writers in the 80/90s, and the relationship that some of them established with the post-traumatic discourse in the post-dictatorship years.
