Tickets + Viewing

Ticket Information

Commencement Day at Case Western Reserve University includes the university-wide convocation, followed by eight separate diploma ceremonies. Of these events, only the four ceremonies listed below require tickets. For guests without tickets, please review the information about auxiliary viewing locations on campus.

Ticketed ceremonies: 

Ticket allotments are based on the number of participating graduates and the capacity of the venue. Tickets are not required for graduates themselves, only their guests. Tickets are not available for sale. Lost tickets are not replaceable. 

Please read below or click the ceremony name above for specific information for each ticketed ceremony.


University Convocation

All students who register to attend the university-wide convocation ceremony secure two guest tickets. Convocation tickets will be distributed to students through the schools and the Office of Undergraduate Studies during mid-April.

Doors to the Veale Convocation Center open at 8 a.m.  Guests must be seated by 9:15 a.m. for convocation. Ticketed guests arriving later than 9:15 a.m. will be seated after the academic procession has entered the Veale Convocation Center.

For guests without tickets, the convocation will be broadcast in several auxiliary viewing locations on campus and online via a live webcast.

Undergraduate Studies Diploma Ceremony

Each undergraduate student who registers to participate in commencement will receive two guest tickets for convocation. These two tickets will also be valid for the Veale Convocation Center for the Undergraduate Studies Diploma Ceremony. Undergraduates will receive one additional ticket for the Undergraduate Studies Diploma Ceremony, for a total of three guests per graduate. The guest with the additional ticket will view convocation at another nearby venue on campus and then join the others in the Veale Convocation Center for the diploma ceremony. 

Tickets will be distributed to students by the Office of Undergraduate Studies during mid-April.

For guests without tickets, the Undergraduate Studies Diploma Ceremony will be broadcast in several auxiliary viewing locations on campus and online via a live webcast

Weatherhead School of Management Diploma Ceremony

Each student who registers to participate in the Weatherhead School of Management Diploma Ceremony will receive up to three guest tickets.

Tickets will be available for student pick up beginning Wednesday, April 12 in the Graduate Student Services Office (Peter B. Lewis Building, Room 150). Students can pick up tickets weekdays between 9 a.m.-6 p.m. until Friday, May 19.

School of Law Diploma Ceremony

Each student who registers to participate in the School of Law Diploma Ceremony will receive up to five guest tickets. Extra tickets that go beyond this guaranteed allotment are subject to venue capacity and are NOT guaranteed. Students will be advised of the fulfillment of ticket requests after April 1.

Tickets will be available for student pick-up during the School of Law Commencement Expo, April 18 and April 19 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the School of Law Upper Rotunda.

Viewing Information

For guests without tickets, the ceremonies taking place in the Veale Convocation Center will be live broadcast in several auxiliary viewing locations on campus and online via a live webcast. Guests without tickets are encouraged to view the convocation ceremony at the location nearest to their next destination. 

All auxiliary viewing locations are equipped with large-screen video projection, providing an excellent view of the ceremony. With the exception of Adelbert Gymnasium, all other auxiliary viewing locations are auditorium style seating. All seating is general admission.

Doors open at 8 a.m., guests must be seated by 9:15 a.m. or they may be held back until the academic procession has entered. Convocation begins at 9:30 a.m.

  • Adelbert Gymnasium (2128 Adelbert Road)
    • Red tickets only  
  • Strosacker Auditorium (inside the Quad at 2125 Adelbert Road)
    • Green tickets only
  • Millis Hall, Schmitt Auditorium (2080 Adelbert Road)
    • Purple tickets only

Doors open for additional ticketed guests following the conclusion of convocation and the exit of the academic procession.
