AMERICAN MUSIC MASTERS

life and music of janis joplin

Bluesy, powerful and irreverent, Janis Joplin rocketed to superstardom with shredding vocals and legendary performances that altered the landscape of male-dominated 1960s rock.

Her music and influence led a generation of performers to the stage, and American Music Masters recognizes that legacy with "Kozmic Blues: The Life and Music of Janis Joplin," its 14th annual celebration on Nov. 9-14. See the full event schedule.

Honoring legends of rock

American Music Masters, co-production of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University, celebrates the lives and careers of artists (including past honorees Les Paul, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bessie Smith and Sam Cooke) who changed the shape and sound of American culture.
