This year's celebration begins with two appearances by Big Brother and the Holding Company.

Drawing together music experts, artists, fans and friends, these events aim to provide new perspectives on some of the most beloved and influential musicians of the past century.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 5 p.m. in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 4th Floor Theatre, original members of Janis Joplin’s first band, including Peter Albin, Sam Andrew and Dave Getz, will tell their stories in an intimate, live interview. Immediately following the interview, Big Brother will participate in an autograph signing session.

Later that evening at 7 p.m., Big Brother will perform live at Beachland Ballroom (see Google map). Cleveland’s own Mary Bridget Davies, the actress and vocalist who played Joplin in the Cleveland stage production “Love, Janis," will join the band on stage to honor Janis Joplin's music.
