If decorating for
the holidays, please do so with safety in mind:
Do NOT
use any candles or any open flame.
Do NOT
place lights or other electrical equipment on or under trees. Use indirect lighting.
Do NOT
block or expose any means of egress:
doorways, hallways, corridors, stairways, etc. with decorations.
Do NOT
create “trip” hazards.
Do NOT
place lights or other electrical devices on metallic trees or decorations.
Do NOT
place decorations so as to hinder access to, or operation of safety equipment
(fires extinguishers, fire hoses, pull boxes, alarms, smoke or heat detectors.
Do NOT
leave lights or other electrical equipment unattended.
Inspect
lights and electrical equipment including extension cords prior to use. Do NOT use anything that is not approved, is
defective, or is questionable.
If using
live/fresh cut trees, be sure to keep it watered. Note:
The use of any natural tree above 10 feet in height requires prior
approval of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Check
displays periodically during use to ensure safety.
