RE:                   Holiday Safety Reminders

If decorating for the holidays, please do so with safety in mind:

           

*      Do NOT use any candles or any open flame.

 

*      Do NOT place lights or other electrical equipment on or under trees.  Use indirect lighting.

 

*      Do NOT block or expose any means of egress:  doorways, hallways, corridors, stairways, etc. with decorations. 

 

*      Do NOT create “trip” hazards.

 

*      Do NOT place lights or other electrical devices on metallic trees or decorations.

 

*      Do NOT place decorations so as to hinder access to, or operation of safety equipment (fires extinguishers, fire hoses, pull boxes, alarms, smoke or heat detectors.

 

*      Do NOT leave lights or other electrical equipment unattended.

 

*      Inspect lights and electrical equipment including extension cords prior to use.  Do NOT use anything that is not approved, is defective, or is questionable.

 

*      If using live/fresh cut trees, be sure to keep it watered.  Note:  The use of any natural tree above 10 feet in height requires prior approval of the Fire Prevention Bureau.

 

*      Check displays periodically during use to ensure safety.
