campus-wide precautions
In addition to providing students, faculty and staff the opportunities to receive the seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccinations, Case Western Reserve University is taking broader precautions to reduce the risk of the illnesses spreading on campus:
- Circulating printed guidelines for recognizing H1N1 symptoms and taking appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of the virus
- Providing gel hand sanitizer in academic buildings, campus housing and some private Greek housing
- Making hand sanitizer and moist towellettes available in all dining service locations
- Using germ-killing cleaning products on all surfaces, paying extra attention to handles, knobs and other commonly used surfaces, especially in residence halls
- Posting reminders to wash hands—one of the most effective ways to avoid contracting the flu—in bathrooms and other campus locations
- Readying pandemic supplies, training first responders and testing crisis communications systems
