Information Technology Services Annual Report 2013

The ways in which students learn and the methods by which they expect to be taught have fundamentally changed. During fiscal year 2013, ITS strengthened its connection with students and faculty members at Case Western Reserve through enhanced service, new technologies and cutting-edge tools that together redefine what it means to teach and learn at the university.

The division strengthened and personalized academic technology support with dedicated staff who aid the incorporation of new pedagogies and technologies into academic courses. ITS expanded the capabilities of popular learning spaces with new equipment and user interfaces that improve the classroom experience of both teachers and learners. Renewed investments in videoconferencing ensured that the Case Western Reserve educational experience does not stop in the classroom, but can be shared with scholars worldwide. The use of online and digital technology to film and deliver Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and create a number of digital applications available through iTunes furthered this purpose and ensured there are more ways than ever for the teaching, learning and research missions of the university to be fulfilled.
