The purpose of the CWRU Pride LGBT Ohio Leadership Scholarship Fund is to provide recognition or enabling financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students who are working to make impactful actions and advancement of the mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community at Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland community, or nationally through scholarship, research, or leadership activities.
Applicants qualifying for this award shall be undergraduate or graduate students that 1. Have demonstrated or propose an activity that will advance the LGBT community at Case Western Reserve University through leadership, experience, or research made possible by the scholarship, and are 2. Enrolled or admitted in Case Western Reserve University as an undergraduate or graduate student and be in good academic standing with the university.

A required personal statement should address your interest in LGBT issues, demonstrate your personal commitment to the LGBT community, and describe how the scholarship will benefit you or the LGBT Community through lasting and impactful change in the campus LGBT community, greater Cleveland, Ohio, or the Midwest region generally (limit two pages). If applicable, please include a proposed budget to ensure completion of any planned activity, experience, or research covered in the statement.
Please submit up to two letters of recommendation in support of this scholarship application.
The Scholarship Application must be submitted by January 15, 2014.
Multiple awards may be given each academic year with the intention that the award is used within one academic year. The amount of the award(s) may vary dependent upon totals in the account fund from year to year. A maximum award of up to $2,000 per award will be awarded by the committee annually.
Applicants meeting the criteria for the CWRU Pride LGBT Ohio Leadership Scholarship Fund will be reviewed by a committee consisting of 1) a CWRU Pride Alumni Representative, 2) a campus LGBTA Committee member, and 3) a representative from Academic or Student Affairs Offices. Recipients will be officially recognized by the LGBT Center during an annual event (e.g. LGBT Center Awards Ceremony, the Winter Gathering, Student Leadership Award Ceremony and/or Lavender Graduation Celebration), and through media and website releases.
