What started as a model on a computer screen quickly materialized into this wrench with real moving pieces. Built at think[box]— Case Western Reserve University’s design and fabrication workshop—the prototype is the result of a 3-D printer, which squirts layer after layer of hard plastic, building a physical prototype directly from a digital model.

Technologies like this, and other state-of-the-art machinery like circuit board routers and laser cutters, allow students at think[box] to bring their ideas to life on the fly.
