Bio

I am originally from the Cleveland suburb of Parma, but did my undergraduate studies at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.  I graduated from OWU in 2009 with a B.A. double major in Microbiology and Genetics and a minor in Chemistry.  During my 4 years as an undergraduate, I did research on diverse topics including scanning electron microscopy of a honeybee parasite, bacterial degradation of parrot feathers, and the geographical characterization of bacterial keratinase gene alleles.  I entered the Case BSTP graduate program in 2009, and chose to join the Baker lab in the RNA Center where I am currently studing nonsense-mediated mRNA decay and the protein factors regulating this phenomenon.
