Dandy-Walker Malformation

A fifteen month-old boy presented with an enlarging head. Following this head CT, he underwent urgent shunting.

Dandy-Walker Malformation is a rare congenital malformation of the posterior fossa. The cerebellar vermis is absent or malformed associated with an enlarged 4th ventricle and posterior fossa, and displacement of the tentorium upward, forming a cyst in the posterior fossa. This malformation may also be associated with abnormal Foramina of Luschka and Magendie, which then results in non-communicating hydrocephalus.
