Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis - Case 3

A 54 year-old man presented with a right sided headache and two brief spells of visual loss in the right eye.

Show the Critical Right Internal Carotid Stenosis                     Show the Moderate Left Internal Carotid Stenosis

Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis: Angiogram of the right and left internal carotid arteries (ICA). Note there is a critical stenosis of the right internal carotid artery just distal to the carotid bifurcation. On the contralateral side, there is moderate stenosis and an irregular shaped plaque. In this case, the right sided stenosis was symptomatic and required intervention. CCA = common carotid artery, ECA = external carotid artery.
