Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion - Case 2

A 59 year-old man presented with a mild expressive aphasia and subtle right sided weakness. His subsequent MRI showed a new embolic stroke in the left frontal lobe.

Show the Occluded Internal Carotid

Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion: Cerebral Angiogram, left common carotid artery (CCA) injection, lateral view. Note that the left internal carotid artery (ICA) is completely occluded. Presumably, at the time of occlusion, an embolus developed which traveled to the middle cerebral artery, resulting in the left frontal lobe stroke. ECA = external carotid artery.
