Sharon Weyer, DNP, NP-C initiated this developing network in August of 2006. Sharon is a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Senior research Associate at Case Western Reserve University. Its 261 members include Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Midwives practicing in ambulatory care setting in North East Ohio.
The APN-ARC has a board of directors consisting of 10 Advanced Practice Nurses representing Family, Women's Health, Pediatrics, and Adult nurse Practitioners. They meet quarterly to discuss current and upcoming research projects.
The next study is the Nurse Practitioner Ambulatory Health Care Survey (NPAHCS) to be mailed to NE Ohio Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to collect chart data on patients cared for by NPs in the ambulatory setting. The survey will offer information on the patients including, reason for visit, medical diagnosis, nursing diagnosis, medication prescribed, patient medical history, diagnosis/screening services, non-medication treatment, patient education, time spent with NP during the visit and collaboration with physician during visit.
