Kurt Stange, MD, Ph.D

Kurt C. Stange is a practicing family physician and epidemiologist. At Case Western Reserve University he is the Gertrude Donnelly Hess, MD Professor of Oncology Research, and Professor of Family Medicine, Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Oncology and Sociology. He is an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professor. Dr. Stange is editor of the peer-reviewed, indexed, primary care research journal, the Annals of Family Medicine. He directs the Center for Research in Family Practice and Primary Care, one of three research centers funded by the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the (US) National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Stange is actively engaged in ongoing basic and applied research that aims to understand the core structures and processes of primary care practice and their effect on preventive service delivery and patient outcomes. This fundamental research has led to intervention studies of sustainable approaches to improving preventive care, and is discovering new methods of enhancing the comprehensive, integrative and relationship-centered generalist approach to patient care.

Mark Cheren, Ed.D

Mark is a consultant with long experience supporting quality improvement and professional development in healthcare. He serves as Editor in Chief for the web-based Healthcare Improvement Skills Center, Associated Editor for IHI's New Health Partnerships website and as an Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) faculty member. Previously, Mark served as Director of Continuing Medical Education at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
