The Safety Net Providers' Strategic Alliance (SNPSA) recently completed a network-wide study of type II diabetes in medically underserved patients. The study identified opportunities for diabetes quality improvement interventions that are grounded in the real world experience of the poor and the care practices. Through their participation in the study development process, SNPSA clinicians are also recieving training in research design and practice-based research methods.
SNPSA recently developed and launched a network-wide follow-up study.
SNPSA clinician and administrator steering committees each meet monthly to plan project development, implementation, interpretation, dissemination and application of findings.
SNPSA members also seek to use their findings to support health policy advocacy to close gaps in the safety net.
