PBRN Shared Resource

Facilitating the generation of relevant new knowledge at the front lines of practice

Our Goals

The goals of the PBRN Shared Resource are to:

  • Develop and sustain PBRNs that engage in clinical research
  • Expand local and regional PBRNs, build translational linkages for PBRNs, and develop methods and supportive technologies for clinical and translational research
  • Support investigators in generating and applying new knowledge at the front lines of clinical practice
  • Align the forces of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center PBRN Core Facility and the PBRN Cleveland Clinical & Translational Science Collaborative Shared Resource

A Brief History

PBRNs began at Case Western Reserve University in 1992 with the initiation of the Research Association of Practices (RAP).

This work led to the establishment of a developing PBRN core facility at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) in 2004.

The PBRN Core Facility was approved and funded by the National Cancer Institute in 2007.

The National Institute of Health funded a PBRN Shared Resource in 2007 through the Cleveland Clinical & Translational Science Collaborative.

As a result of the NIH and NCI support, the Case CCC's PBRN core facility is nested within the CTSC PBRN Shared Resource.
