Mood Disorders Program
University Hospitals Case Medical Center
Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

The Mood Disorders Program is committed to providing expert care to patients and their families, while conducting research to advance scientific knowledge.  We are dedicated to improving clinical outcomes of under-served patients with mood disorders, particularly those presenting with rapid cycling bipolar disorder, co-occurring anxiety and substance misuse/abuse, legal complications, and members of the Ohio Guard and Reserve.

The Mood Disorders Program provides medication therapy and psychotherapy based on the latest research.  We offer an array of clinical services including an intensive outpatient program, outpatient visits, inpatient, and ECT.  To learn more about the clinical services offered please click here.

The research we do in the Mood Disorders Program focuses not only on symptom improvement, but also on function and disability with an objective to ultimately improve patient quality of life.  Our studies focus on Bipolar Disorder, Treatment Resistant Depression, Major Depressive Disorder, and Anxiety and Stress Disorders.  We are currently enrolling patients in clinical trials in order to better evaluate the complexities and comorbidities of these illnesses.  We hope that our research improves treatment as well as quality of life. To learn more about our research studies please click here.

The Mood Disorders Program also invests in the career development of health professionals who will become the next generation of clinical investigators. We offer a Research Training Fellowship, which is an opportunity for board-eligible psychiatrists to successfully compete for, and implement, high-quality NIH-funded research projects.  To learn more about our Research Training Fellowship please click here

In addition, the Mood Disorders Program prioritizes the development of partnerships within the community.  We serve as a resource to foster the growth and development of capable investigators within our community.  Through this collaboration, research into these disabling illnesses will expand and ultimately improve clinical outcomes for patients.  For more information on our partners within the community please click here.
