The NIMH awarded its first Intervention and
Services Research Center dedicated to bipolar disorder across
the life span to the Case School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
The research center conducts projects that bridge science and
service and improve clinical outcomes in underserved populations.
These include persons of all ages with particular emphasis on
children and adolescents, patients receiving care within the
community mental health system, those who are abusing alcohol
and/or drugs and youths who have been involved in the juvenile
justice system.
A two-year post-doctoral research fellowship
position is available to candidates who are board-eligible child/adolescent
and adult psychiatrists, committed to developing an academic
career in the therapeutics of bipolar disorder, including children
at-risk, children, adolescents, adults and older adults.
Description
Candidates interested in dedicating themselves
to a successful academic research career with emphasis on external
funding from the NIMH are encouraged to apply. Fellows will
be the recipients of 1) a specialized research curriculum; 2)
specific training on methods and statistics; 3) mentoring by
NIMH-funded program faculty with an emphasis on manuscript preparation,
scientific presentation, and grant writing; and 4) experiential
learning involving the operational management of an NIMH-funded
