Postgraduate Training (RENEW)

Program Overview

The National Center for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), in collaboration with Rutgers’ NIH Training Grant “Translational Research in Regenerative Medicine,” offers a 15 week online training course in Regenerative Medicine.

The goal of this course is to link stem cell and regenerative medicine centers, investigators, and students from around the world to offer an innovative course exploring regenerative medicine and stem cell concepts, novel research, and technologies for clinical applications.

Course Format

RENEW is an online course which offers lectures from participating institutions from around the country. Over the course of 15 weeks, the following topics are covered:

  • Fundamental stem cell biology
  • Stem cell isolation
  • Preclinical applications
  • Clinical trial design
  • Regulatory issues
  • Bioethical issues

Each weekly lecture is 30-60 minutes with a 20-40 minute Q&A session. The lecture time is set based on a time convenient for both faculty and trainees. Archived presentations with Q&A are available online for later viewing.

Who should enroll?

  • Industrial researchers
  • Academic investigators
  • Graduate and post-doctoral students

Who should I contact to enroll or establish an institution partnership with RENEW?

To become involved in RENEW, either as a participant or institution partner, contact Charlene Mitchell via clm25@case.edu or call 216.368.4928. With this affiliation, the course can be positioned as part of a training program in addition to anticipating potential research collaborations.

What IT platform is needed for course participation?

Adobe Connect Pro software platform is used for the course. This e-learning technology not only provides user-friendly, secure access to course participants, but also offers an interactive solution to online learning. To participate, students connect through a computer, standard web browser, webcam, and a steady internet connection.
