QIL Alumni

  • Fan LiangDr. Liang joined QIL lab in 2016 March as a visiting scholar from Tianjin University of Technology and Education, China. He productively developed auto-contouring techniques for adaptive radiation treatment and 3D needle control system during his one year visit.
  • Gisele Pereira: Completed a Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Missouri. She remains in Radiation Oncology, University Hospitals Case Medical Center and continues as part of the Quantitative Imaging Laboratory.
  • Pengjiang (Will) Qian: Beginning December 2014, Will joined us for 13 months as a visiting professor from Jiangnan University, Wuxi, China. He taught us machine learning and we taught him medical imaging. The collaboration produced multiple publications, a U.S. patent application and a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant that provides some funding for Dr. Qian and his group at Jiangnan University.
  • Hsin (Tommy) Huang: Joined the lab for an internship in Summer 2015. At the time, he was a Biomedical Engineering sophomore at Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. He had a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and was sent by his advisor, Yu-Hua Fang, a lab alumnus.
  • Ting-Yu (Jack) Su: Joined the lab for an internship in Summer 2015. At the time he was a Biomedical Engineering sophomore at Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. He had a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and was sent by his advisor, Yu-Hua Fang, a lab alumnus.
  • Visvanathan (Mouli) Chandramouli: Was a Principal Researcher at Case Western Reserve University for many years and is known internationally. He worked with us for several years on the development of 6FDG. He has now enjoyed time with his family in his retirement, although his scientific passion still burns.
  • Jeff Kolthammer: Completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. He moved to Chicago to take a position at Toshiba Medical Research Institute where he is now the Director of Molecular Imaging R&D.
  • Husan-Ming (Bucks) Huang: Completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. He returned home to Taiwan where he is now Assistant Professor, Institute of Medical Device and Imaging, National Taiwan University, Taipei City, Taiwan.
  • Yu-Hua (Dean) Fang: Completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. He did a postdoc at Massachusetts General Hospital before returning to Taiwan. There he rose through the ranks from Assistant to Associate Professor at National Cheng Kung University and Chang Gung University.  He has since joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 
  • Chandra Spring Robinson: Completed her MS in Biomedical Engineering. She moved to Texas and completed medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is now a resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Buffalo.
  • Cristian Salinas: Completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. He moved to London to fulfill his goal of taking a position in pharma, working in Europe in industry. Recently he returned from to the U.S. where he is Associate Director at Biogen in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • Pravesh Asthana: Completed his MS in Biomedical Engineering. He has worked in software development and communications technology. He is now a Senior Software Engineer at Qualcomm in San Francisco.
  • Kuan-Hau (Dylan) Su: Was a Senior Research Associate for several years and developed to the point of leading a subgroup doing all forms of image analyses including AI.  He left to take an industry position with GE Molecular Imaging, Waukesha, WI.
  • Jung-Wen (Gloria) Kuo: Was a Research Assistant for several years.  She was a versatile team member expertly performing laboratory analyses and managing preclinical studies.  She moved to Waukesha, WI.
