Dr. Gail Cresci is currently an associate staff member with a joint appointment in both the Department of Gastroenterology/Hepatology and the Department of Pathobiology at Cleveland Clinic. Prior to coming to Cleveland Clinic in 2010, she was at the Medical College of Georgia for 17 years where she was an associate professor and the director of surgical nutrition services in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Cresci conducts nutrition research, both laboratory and clinical. She mentors the staff dietitians with their clinical research projects as well as chairs the Center for Human Nutrition Research Committee. She also is the nutrition thread leader for the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Dr. Cresci’s research program focus involves both clinical and basic science experimental designs studying the gut microbiome and its fermentation and metabolic byproducts during health and disease.

Dr. Cresci has routinely been recognized for her excellence in research and clinical practice. Most recently, she was the 2015 Recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from Dietitians in Nutrition Support Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
