Stephanie R. Harris is a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist and an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition. Dr. Harris is also the Faculty Co-Lead of the Jack, Joseph, Morton Mandel Wellness and Preventive Care Pathway in the School of Medicine, which introduces medical students to lifestyle medicine, stress management, emotional wellness, nutrition, and culinary medicine. Her expertise in wellness, dietary supplements, integrative and functional nutrition, and diverse educational approaches have allowed for the implementation of new courses for undergraduate and graduate students at CWRU, as well as additional curriculum for medical students in the Wellness Pathway. In addition, Dr. Harris has been actively engaged in the University’s interprofessional education initiatives for health care professionals. She has been nominated for various teaching and mentoring awards, and most recently was the recipient of the 2020 North Central Region Outstanding Dietetics Educator of the Year award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors (NDEP).

Dr. Harris is very active with professional service in her areas of expertise and has held a variety of national leadership roles. She served on the Executive Committee for Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine (DIFM) Dietetics Practice Group for 7 years. She is currently on the Credential Board for the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy (IFNA) and is also Co-Chair of the Culinary SIG for the Academic Consortium of Integrative Medicine and Health (ACIMH). Most recently, Dr. Harris was appointed Vice Chair of the Committee for Lifelong Learning with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Dr. Harris completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University. She completed her master’s degree at Case Western Reserve University and her dietetic internship at University Hospitals of Cleveland. After working as an inpatient and outpatient clinical dietitian, and as a consultant dietitian involved in the development of wellness and nutrition education programs for the private and public sector, she returned to Case Western Reserve University to complete her PhD.
