WISER Outreach Programming Specialist

The Center for Women has an opening for a WISER Outreach Programming Specialist. The objective of the position is to coordinate, implement, and publicize WISER (Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable) Girls' STEM Outreach Programs and activities for the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women.

Key components and Responsibilities of the position Include:

  • Weekly implementation of WISER Girls' Science & Engineering Club for 6th grade girls.

  • With the WISER director Plan and oversee Introduce a Girl to Science and Engineering Day (a one day annual event for 100 middle school girls):

  • Marketing and publicity of WISER programs as assigned.

  • Administrative duties as assigned.


Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to complete certification to drive university-owned van to and from the outreach school sites; Must be comfortable facilitating workshops with STEM themes; Previous experience working with elementary school girls a plus Qualifications: Must have bachelors from an accredited university; Ability to replicate, demonstrate and teach middle-school science activities; Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; The ability to work under pressure in a very busy environmen.


This is an hourly contractual position slated for a vendor who is not a CWRU employee. It requires a minimum of 18 hours/week during the school year, starting in August, 2013 and ending in June, 2014. The position is dependent on yearly funding and will be renewed on a yearly basis only if funding continues.
