Q&A about the SAGES Capstone Resource Grant

What is a SAGES Capstone Resource Grant?
The SAGES capstone resource grant is funding specifically for resources to aid students in carrying out their capstone projects. We are especially interested in allowing students to be more ambitious and creative in designing and completing these projects. Resources are defined broadly to include supplies, travel support, admissions for museums, etc. The SAGES capstone resource grant does NOT allow stipend support.

Who is eligible?

  • Students from any discipline
  • Students who are enrolled-in or pre-registered for a capstone course

How much funding can I receive?
One-person projects can receive up to $250. Group projects can receive funding up to a maximum of $1000. On the application, please be as specific as possible concerning the budget description. Please note that funding will be dispersed after all receipts are turned-in. Please turn in all receipts in a single organized batch by September 19th, 2014.

When should I apply? Applications for Fall 2014 funding currently are being accepted and will be considered on a rolling basis until Friday, September 19th, 2014 unless the funding is depleted earlier

What do I need to do to apply? A completed application package includes:

(1) The SAGES Funding Application will reopen for Spring submissions by December 2014.

(2) The Capstone Mentor Support Form will be available by December 2014.

What is the process for award selection? SOURCE will record the application and forward it to the SAGES Office. A selection committee will meet regularly and discuss applications. Applications may be selected for immediate approval, put on hold for later consideration, or not approved. Applicants whose applications are put on hold may be asked to submit additional information. It is expected that applicants will be notified of their final status by September 19th, 2014.
