Adam Marcus is co-founder of Retraction Watch and The Center for Scientific Integrity, and managing editor of Gastroenterology & Endoscopy News.
Marcus, along with colleague Ivan Oransky, founded Retraction Watch and The Center for Scientific Integrity to promote transparency and integrity in science and scientific publishing, to disseminate best practices and to provide a resource for researchers and journalists interested in these issues. Since 2010, Retraction Watch has been shedding light on significant retractions in the scientific literature. In 2014, they received a $400,000 grant from the MacArthur Foundation to develop a comprehensive and freely available database of retractions. They also receive funding from the Arnold Foundation and the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
Marcus’s articles have appeared in Science, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and many other publications.
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and of Johns Hopkins University, where he teaches science writing.
