STAFF EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Our Services

The Staff Advisory Council (SAC), which is dedicated to assisting staff members as they pursue their own professional and educational goals, established the Staff Educational Enhancement Program in 2007. There are two opportunities under this program. The first is The Staff Educational Enhancement Fund, commonly known as SEEF, which provides small stipends for textbooks, conference registrations etc. The second is known as the Eastwood-Inamori Staff Educational Scholarship (SES) which is explained in detail below. Both choices offer all staff at Case the opportunity to receive reimbursement for educational and professional development not funded under regular university benefits.

Staff Advisory Council's Training & Development Committee is responsible for audit documentation, approval of funding for recipients, and distribution of funds. Funds will be distributed equitably and may not cover the entire amount requested.

1:  The Staff Educational Enhancement Fund (SEEF)

The Staff Educational Enhancement Fund (SEEF) which can be used for textbooks, certification, on-line courses, courses off campus, or out-service training (conferences, conventions, professional association meetings or workshops) not funded under regular university benefits. Funds may not be used for travel related expenses (food, transportation, lodging, etc.). Staff are eligible to receive awards two semesters per academic year from the Staff Educational Enhancement Fund.

2:  The Eastwood-Inamori Staff Educational Scholarship (SES)

In collaboration with Gregory Eastwood and the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence, the Staff Educational Enhancement Program offers a scholarship to help promote the center as a leading resource for ethics and excellence in leadership and to give staff the opportunity to pursue a planned program of study at the Weatherhead School of Management.

Weatherhead Executive Education currently supports Case staff development by providing a 50% discount on all of the one and two-day seminar programs. As of October 2011 the Executive Education Department at Weatherhead School of Management has added additional support for those staff members who are self-funded and are interested in the Executive Education programs. Those individuals can email seminars@case.edu and request a scholarship application. Scholarships, if approved, may reduce the cost of Executive Education programs by a maximum of up to $200 per class day.

Classes focused on ethics and excellence in leadership which qualify for the planned program of study are:

All staff in the university now have the opportunity to apply for both the Weatherhead Scholarship as well as the Eastwood-Inamori Scholarship. The combination of scholarships may be awarded to eligible staff following approval of criteria from Weatherhead and the Eastwood-Inamori Scholarship (SES).

What people are saying:

I greatly appreciate the funds provided by the Staff Educational Enhancement Fund. These funds make it possible for staff members to continue their pursuit of higher education through the financial support of other staff members. What another wonderful way to see that we at Case are all working towards the same goal.

Thanks again.

I take this moment to express to you my sincere appreciation for selecting me as a recipient of the 2008 Eastwood-Inamori Staff Educational Scholarship. This particular honor, at this transitional point in my career is a rewarding and motivating first step in an incredible new journey I boldly face as a graduating student this winter.

The Case Staff Educational Enhancement Fund assisted me with pursuing my career development and in effect increased my employee morale.  During a time when prices are raising and employers are faced with challenges, it feels good to know that this organization is attempting to put forth effort to support their employees the best they can. SEEF is a great way to provide that employee support by showing the dedication CWRU has in its employee's success. The monetary contributions afford and encourage employees to take the opportunity to excel by participating in a variety of programs.  It ultimately benefits both the employee and the employer. Thank you to CWRU, SAC and the SEEF Program for making a positive impact on me.

I've been working on my master's degree here at CWRU for a couple of years now and have felt the strain of rising textbook costs each year. Last fall I was particularly concerned about being able to afford all of the books for my classes. The Staff Educational Enhancement Fund was instrumental in helping me succeed last semester. I was able to buy all of the textbooks I needed, which helped me get the most out of my classes. Now that those classes are over, I will continue to use those books as references throughout my career.

I have been extremely fortunate to have benefited from the Staff Educational Enhancement Fund while in pursuit of my Masters Degree.  It has afforded me the opportunity to purchase additional books which have greatly enhanced my learning as well as the ability to share that knowledge. This program truly fosters the essence of individual growth and its positive ripple effect to others.  I strongly encourage all staff to support SAC and personally benefit by applying to this very generous fund.

I am so grateful for the support I received from the SAC Staff Educational Enhancement Fund this year.  This award was an absolute blessing. There were times during my college experience that I was not able to afford the purchase of all of my textbooks.  I hope one day I will be able to give back what was so generously given to me.
