Weatherhead Executive Education currently supports CWRU staff development by providing a 50% discount on all of the one and two-day seminar programs. In addition to this discount, a limited number of scholarships are available each year to further reduce the cost of these programs. The Eastwood-Inamori Staff Educational Scholarship (SES)
In honor of Gregory Eastwood, the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence and the Staff Advisory Council offer a scholarship to help promote the center as a leading resource for ethics and excellence in leadership and to give staff the opportunity to pursue a planned program of study at the Weatherhead School of Management.
On-Campus Employee Training and Development Resources
SAC supports the personal growth and development of all staff on campus by encouraging educational training. SAC also offers information for new employees as they begin their new job.
- A calendar of course offerings has been created so you can always view what is available for your professional development needs. The majority of these learning opportunities are offered at no cost to you or your department. There are, however, four offerings that involve a modest fee to cover costs of third-party materials or online self-assessments. In those instances, you will be asked to share your departmental speed type as part of the registration process. We recognize that there could be situations in which sufficient funds are not available. Rest assured, our goal is to make these courses accessible to as many staff as possible, and we have taken steps to remove barriers that could prevent participation. Human Resources has partnered with the Staff Advisory Council (SAC) to provide funding to help those individuals whose departments don’t have the budget to participate in these PDC courses. SAC has agreed to oversee and manage this process, and we are grateful for their input and assistance.

- The Administrative Professionals Network is a peer network of individuals from all over campus who share best practices, communicate and encourage professional development, and serve as resources for each other.
- All CWRU students, faculty, and staff have unlimited 24/7 FREE access. View self-paced learning videos ranging from 5-15 minute segments on topics including all the MS Office applications.
- This program operates under the direction of the Executive Compliance Committee with the purpose of monitoring and coordinating the university’s many existing compliance efforts, assessing university-wide performance, and providing senior leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees with an independent, comprehensive view of the university’s compliance activities.
- The unit offers services that support the university's research and education mission while maintaining regulatory compliance. Specialists provide training and education for regulatory and safety concerns and aspire to keep programs relevant and proactive.
Technology Training and Consultation, provided by the University Technology
- Training and consultation services are available to support members of the university community in their use of university technologies.
Case Learns, provided by the Kelvin Smith Library
- Case Learns is designed to provide instruction to the Case Community on how to find, use and present information and information technologies. Most classes are FREE.
- Case Western Reserve University Administrative Professional Series (CAPS) is a training and development program that focuses on educating individuals on the financial management of administrative units at CWRU. Courses provide information on working with general departmental accounting, sponsored projects, purchasing, PeopleSoft Financials, and many more topics.
L.E.A.D Certificate Program for Supervisors, organized by CWRU Human Resources
- Provides university leaders with the opportunity to increase their leadership competency through classes, individual coaching, assigned readings, exercises, assessments and networking through an intensive ten-month cohort program, participation is limited to 15 participants annually.
- The Office of Continuing Education extends Case Western Reserve University's College of Arts and Sciences resources to the community through a variety of non-credit programs.
- The Laura and Alvin Siegal Lifelong Learning Progam at Case Western Reserve University offers a wide variety of non-credit programs that draw from the liberal arts disciplines and provide high-quality lifelong learning opportunities for residents of northeastern Ohio. Their mission is to connect CWRU with the community by providing challenging but non-competitive learning experiences for adults who want to cultivate their ongoing intellectual curiosity.
- A wide range of executive education seminars and certificates to enhance individual's leadership skills. Staff discounts are available.
- A year-long program offering women professional staff an opportunity to enhance and energize leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks. Applications are accepted annually and enrollment is limited to 12 participants per year.
