Hudson Relays

With this issue, we introduce a new feature that celebrates the traditions, events or characteristics that help make Case Western Reserve so vibrant. We hope these pictures evoke fond memories of campus. Please share your recollections or tell us a story about the people you recognize in these photos—you may even be one of them. We’ll run your emails and letters in future issues.

For this inaugural outing, we offer images of one of the oldest traditions on campus: The Hudson Relays, which began in 1910 as a 26-mile race from Western Reserve University’s original campus in Hudson, Ohio, to its new home in what is now University Circle. Today, the race is run entirely in and around campus. These photos from University Archives are from races held in 1911, 1972 and 1991.

Enjoy the memories, and write to us with yours at think@case.edu. We’d love to hear from you.
