Helping Students find the Path to Academic SuccESS

Adjusting to college can be one of the most difficult transitional experiences in a young adult’s life.  As students try to manage the various academic and extracurricular demands of college, many students lack the skills necessary for achieving academic success and maintaining a balanced level of campus engagement activities.  As a result, students often display signs of diminished personal wellness and self-care, poor academic performance, frustration, withdraw from class participation, and an overall disposition of fatigue and indifference.

Strategies and resources to help students manage the process of learning at the college level and finding a healthy balance between academic responsibilities and extracurricular activities will be the topic for the next University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) session. The session will be held Thursday, March 9th, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Medical Library building.

James Eller, ESS Associate Director for Academic Resources, and Jenn DeSantis, ESS Assistant Director for Academic Resources, will engage participants in a discussion about some of the student challenges most frequently seen by faculty and ESS staff members.  This session will also provide an overview of the resources available through Educational Services for Students (ESS) to address these challenges.

Join us on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in the Herrick Room, which is on the ground floor of the Allen building (at the corner of Adelbert and Euclid). Pizza lunch and sodas will be provided at this session.

To help us estimate the amount to order, please let us know if you plan to attend this session by replying to this email or sending a message to ucite@case.edu.
