Health Career Advising
Health care is one of the most emergent and dynamic career fields an individual can enter. It is also a demanding one that requires a lot of planning and exploration. A rich and diverse undergraduate experience in and out of the classroom is essential for admission to professional health science schools and graduate programs.
Health career advising is available through the Office of Undergraduate Studies. The Director of Health Career Advising works with CWRU undergraduate students and alumni seeking careers in the health professions. Students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program should work with advisors in the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. The Director helps students select appropriate courses based on their academic and professional goals and seek out opportunities to gain experience in their chosen profession.

Letter Writing Services
CWRU undergraduate students and recent alumni who are applying to a professional health science school may request a Composite Letter Packet to be submitted by the Director of Health Career Advising. The packet consists of individual letters of recommendation submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Studies from faculty, professional mentors and supervisors, and a letter of evaluation from the Director of Health Career Advising. Go to Letter Writing Services for instructions on how to request a composite letter packet for the current application cycle and how to submit letters of recommendation.
The Office of Undergraduate Studies maintains a Pre-Health Professions Blackboard page for current and past CWRU undergraduate students interested in the health science professions. The Blackboard page provides additional resources for students and is used to communicate information about group advising sessions, application preparation and workshops, clinical and research opportunities, and guest speakers on campus. Students may request access to the Pre-Health Professions Blackboard page by sending an email to email@example.com.
In addition to the pre-professional advising offered through the Office of Undergraduate Studies, students may want to access other resources on campus for support in their career exploration and application preparation. The Career Center provides general career counseling for students exploring their career options and mock interviews for students who have received an interview invitation with a professional health science school or graduate program. The Writing Resource Center offers one-on-one assistance with drafting personal statements for applications to professional health science schools.
