Students: Blackboard Questions for the New Semester

We've gathered some of the more frequently asked questions about Blackboard below. Click on your issue to learn more!

You can log-in to Blackboard by typing blackboard.case.edu into your web browser. We recommend using either Chrome or Firefox to access Blackboard, but any modern browser should be alright.

Here at CWRU, we leave the decision of whether or not to use Blackboard up to faculty. They must create a site and get it ready each semester. If you have signed up for a course and want to know why it's not on Blackboard, or when it will show up on Blackboard, please check with your instructor directly.

If your sick of a course list full of old courses and random sorting, you can change what you see. Here's what to do:

  1. Log-in to blackboard.case.edu
  2. Decide which list to clean.
    1. If you frequently just log-in to Blackboard and select a course from the My Institution tab, you're looking for the My Courses box.
    2. If you frequently log-in to Blackboard and click on the Courses tab, you're looking for the Course List box.
  3. Place your cursor on the box and click on the small gear icon that appears in the upper right corner.
  4. Use the check boxes to decide which courses should appear on your list.
  5. Use the drag-and-drop arrow to rearrange the order of your list.
  6. Click Submit to save your changes.

The changes you have made should now be reflected on your course list. You can repeat this process to show and hide courses as necessary. The My Courses and Course List boxes are completely independent, so changes made in one box will not reflect in the other.

Unfortunately, we cannot remove you from a Blackboard site. However, you can remove the course from your list of courses in Blackboard. Here's what to do:

Enrollments into Blackboard sites are based off of SIS data, but we cannot run that refresh process in real time. Please allow up to 24 hours for the Blackboard site to appear. If you still don't see it, please contact your instructor for assistance or reach out to the Help Desk

Unfortunately, we cannot remove you from a Blackboard site. Our first recommendation is reaching out to the instructor and asking them to remove you from the site.

In the meantime, you can remove the course from your list of courses in Blackboard. Here's what to do:

  1. Log-in to blackboard.case.edu
