The provost and university vice-president handles all undergraduate academic programs at Case Western Reserve University, as well as provides general administrative supervision of all units of the university. The person in this dual post serves as the president’s first deputy officer and assumes presidential responsibilities when the president is absent or unavailable.

In fulfilling these duties, the provost and university vice president works directly with the deans of the undergraduate colleges and programs (School of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Nursing, Undergraduate Studies, and Weatherhead School of Management); with the faculty and its governing body, the Faculty Senate; and with other members of the president’s administrative team.

The provost and university vice president also oversee university initiatives that promote and support academic excellence, undergraduate research, faculty scholarship, diversity, and inclusion.
