Adult Cystic Fibrosis Physician-Scientist Position (open rank) - Division of Pulmonology

The Division of Pulmonology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and Case Western Reserve University is seeking a cystic fibrosis physician with experience focused on the management of adults with CF. The position will involve leadership, clinical and research responsibilities in the Cystic Fibrosis Center. The ideal candidate will have strong research training and an established or emerging independent research career. Candidates can anticipate protected time focused on preparing grants and manuscripts. In addition to research and clinical activities, division members are expected to participate in teaching medical students, residents and fellows.

Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care center located in Cleveland, Ohio and is affiliated with Case Western Reserve University. It was the first Cystic Fibrosis Center in the nation and remains a leader in basic, translational and clinical research. The Division currently includes 11 full time and three part time Pulmonology and CF specialists; and two board certified allergists. Additionally, the Division has eight PhD faculty dedicated to CF research, with a strong basic-science/clinical interface. The Division also has an ACGME-approved fellowship program.

Board certification in Internal Medicine and at least five years of experience working in a CF Center is required. Sub-board certification in a subspecialty relevant to CF care is highly recommended. Faculty rank is expected to be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience and achievement, but Professor-level candidates will be considered; tenure and non-tenure track options available. Assistant Professor candidates (non-tenure track) should have at least one publication; Assistant Professor on the tenure track should have the same plus demonstration of potential to obtain external funding within 3 years of appointment. For non-tenure track Associate Professor rank, candidates must demonstrate excellence in either teaching, clinical service or research and must be regionally or nationally recognized for their contributions. Non-tenure track Professors must demonstrate national recognition for their contributions. If tenure track is desired, Associate Professor candidates must demonstrate national recognition of their research program; Professors must demonstrate sustained excellence and enhanced recognition.
