Faculty positions at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels are available in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences for outstanding scientists involved in contemporary research in genetics and genomics.
Thirty-two basic, clinical and physician scientist faculty base their research, teaching, and clinical activities in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences. The research programs of these investigators include human genetics and genomics, model systems (including invertebrate, mouse and induced pluripotent stem cells), translational genomics, cancer genetics/genomics, systems biology research, developmental genetics and clinical genetics. The Department includes the Center for Human Genetics, which encompasses all medical genetics activities at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, and the Seidman Cancer Center, providing a unique bridge for translational studies. State-of-the-art research laboratories with access to core facilities in genomic sequencing, pluripotent stem cell production, imaging, transgenic/knock-out mice, bioinformatics, chemical/drug screening and animal services significantly enhance research and training within the department.
The Department has active PhD and genetic counseling (MS) graduate programs, medical genetics residency programs, and faculty members engage in teaching in the medical school.
Positions are available at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor, (tenure and non-tenure track) rank commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate promise for research and teaching excellence. Senior applicants at the Associate Professor (Professor) level should have a strong national (international) scientific reputation as well as a distinguished record of publication and research funding.
Preference will be given to applications who complement ongoing programs or who bring novel experience, expertise or research perspectives. Successful applicants will have a M.D., Ph.D. or both and are expected to develop an independent research program and to teach in the Department training program.
