The Physician Assistant Program at Case Western Reserve University invites applications to fill the medical director position. This is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, and 0.4 FTE, 12-month faculty position reporting directly to the Physician Assistant Program Director.
The medical director, under the supervision of the program director, must help ensure that the didactic instruction and supervised clinical experiences meet the current standards of medical practice. The medical director is an advocate for the PA program in the CWRU community and helps facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of both the curriculum and program overall.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Advocate for the PA program in the CWRU and broader medical community.
- Ensure that the didactic instruction and supervised clinical experiences meet the current standards of medical practice as well as the ARC-PA Standards of accreditation.
- Participate in the accreditation process of the PA program.
- Teach didactically in their area of specialty as well as other areas of interest.
- Teach PA students clinically in supervised clinical practice experiences.
- Participate in the identification, recruitment, development and maintenance of pre-clinical clerkship and clinical teaching sites.
- Assist in establishing and cultivating relationships with community partners, creating experiential learning and community service opportunities across the life span.
- Mentor and advise PA students.
- Review and revise the PA program’s health & immunization policy and ensure student compliance with the policy.
- Review and revise the PA program’s bloodborne pathogen policy and oversee compliance with this policy.
- Serve as Chair of PA Program Admissions Committee.
- Conduct the formal evaluation and participate in the revision of the admissions process.
- Serve as a member of the Academic Standing and Progress Committee, Didactic Curriculum Committee, Clinical Curriculum Committee, Self-Study Review Committee, the PA Education and Policy Committee and the PA program Advisory Board.
- Work clinically as a physician in the community.
Qualifications for this position include an earned medical degree from an LCME or AOA accredited institution, a current physician license in the State of Ohio and current board certification (AOA or ABMS). A documented record of academic leadership and mentorship of graduate students is preferred. Experience in PA education is desirable.
