The Center for RNA Science and Therapeutics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position with focus on the connection of RNA biology and medicine. Preference will be given to candidates applying modern RNA methodologies to questions with direct medical relevance.
The Center for RNA Science and Therapeutics, a free-standing academic unit with several primary and more than 20 affiliated faculty, is a vibrant and collaborative environment for research on a wide range of RNA-related topics. Proximity to the Seidman Cancer Center, University Hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center provides abundant opportunities for collaborations with clinical groups or for direct clinical work.
Candidates holding a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD with an outstanding record of research are invited to submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of future research plans, and contact information for three (3) references. Applicants at the Associate level should also submit a synopsis of past research accomplishments and funding record. Junior candidates should demonstrate exceptional potential to develop an innovative, externally funded research program and should arrange for 3 letters of reference to be sent independently. The rank of the chosen candidate will depend on qualifications, current research program and funding. Assistant professors will focus on initiating an independent research program. Associate professors will have an established independent research program.
⦁ Assistant Professors. Assistant Professor would be the rank chosen for a beginning-level professor. Will focus on initiating an independent research program.
⦁ Associate Professors. Associate Professor would be the rank chosen for a mid-level professor (generally more than 5 years’ experience). Associate Professors continue their responsibilities as an assistant professor but will also have a clear record for obtaining grant support and have a clear, established independent research program and national recognition for his/her research.
⦁ Full Professors. Full Professor would be the rank chosen for a senior-level professor. These individuals would be for candidates that are already at the senior level. In this role, the individual would have clear, established and consistent record of obtaining extramural funding as well as a well-established research program with national and/or international recognition.
