- STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The qualified candidate will have strong interest in research activities in the neuromodulation field. In particular, the primary responsibilities of this position include executing research projects focused on extracellular neuromodulation and recording in awake behaving preclinical models for the purpose of evaluating neuromodulation treatments for pain and other neurological disorders. The qualified candidate will prepare manuscripts, obtain preliminary data, and support the writing of research grant proposals. The candidate will participate in brainstorms and file invention disclosures that capture inventive neuromodulation systems or methods.
- TECHNICAL SKILLS
Stimulation and recording with microelectrodes
Awake behaving electrophysiology
Preclinical surgery
Desirable: Experience with optical systems (e.g., equipment used for awake behaving optogenetics)
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIES
As needed, mentor laboratory members on the use of equipment, surgical techniques, etc. to further support educational opportunities and further establish technical capability within the laboratory.
- EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
At least 3 – 7 years of relevant post-graduate experience is desired. Exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered.
