The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has a Research Associate position available in the areas of spatial science, spatial programming, and spatial context focused software development. Successful candidates should have graduate degrees in both GIS / Geography and a Computer Science related field. Successful candidates should have at least three years of health-related spatial science research (graduate experience is acceptable).
The responsibilities for this position include developing PC and web software to support ongoing health research initiatives both domestically and internationally, and conduct original research on the data generated by these new software, especially in terms of data structure, such as through sentiment analysis. The candidate will also perform data linking operations between disparate databases, and be expected to perform basic GIS support including geocoding and spatial analysis. The candidate will also be expected to present research results at national and international conferences and write research papers.
The Candidate will have technical skills in 1) GIS (multiple software) including all aspects of use (spatial analysis, geocoding) 2) Advanced programming language skills in Java, Python, C++ and C.
