Research Associate STS position in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

 

The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has a Research Associate position available in the area of statistical genetics with an emphasis on the analysis of large genomic datasets. Successful candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in statistical and quantitative aspects of study design and analysis.

 

The responsibilities for this position include managing a portfolio of statistical and computational genetics and genomic projects while working within an established research team. Leading the design and implementation of data analysis for research projects, focusing on fundamental issues including specifications of hypotheses, proper study design and implementation.  Perform statistical and computational analyses, including generation of genetic and genomic study data summaries and ad-hoc reports while ensuring completeness, correctness and integrity of analyses and datasets.  Lead and participate in the preparation of written reports and oral presentations summarizing data analysis results, including detailed description of statistical genetic and genomic methods and synthesis of conclusions from summary tables. Accurately estimate time lines and resources needed to meet objectives.

 

The Candidate will have technical skills in 1) Computer science and statistics – proficiency in R and Python/Perl and experience with statistical and qualitative aspects of study design and analysis, including power calculations; 2) Genetic analysis methods and experience with large data sets, such as those used in GWAS, whole exome and whole genome sequencing and large cohort studies.
