Research Associate STS position in The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

 

The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has a Research Associate STS position available. Successful candidates will have at least 5 years’ experience in working with data from various sources, and knowledge of the Health Services Research field as it pertains to these large databases. This experience should have statistical analysis, statistical programming, and data management pertaining to Health Service Research. Interest in perpetual learning and adopting innovative analytic techniques to carry out epidemiological and health services research projects. A master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics or related field required.

 

The responsibilities for this position include developing and deploy data science and informatics approaches to streamline operations; create a culture of efficiency and innovation to the research enterprise at the Population Cancer Analytics Shared Resource and Population Health and Outcomes Research Core. In consultation with investigators, and based on data from the various sources listed above, advise on the study design, identification the study population, the definition of the variables of interest, the development of the analytic data set, and supervise the analyst to ensure the completion of high quality analysis in a timely and efficient manner. Participate in all aspects of preparing IRB applications, data requests, and ensuring data security. Advise analysts on the design, debugging, testing, and documenting statistical programs using statistical software packages such as SAS and R. Participate in writing, output interpretation, and other tasks associated with manuscript and proposal preparation. Develop a process of documentation for all the steps involved in preparing the analytic file, including version control, and create archival datasets for later use by the investigators. Provide consultation for medical and graduate students working on large database projects in the areas of study design and data analysis.
