The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is seeking to fill a position for a full-time health services researcher. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong background and/or interest in informatics, particular in the area of using large datasets for health outcomes research. With minimum mentorship, the selected candidate will be expected to generate hypothesis, design experiments, interpret data, prepare manuscript for publication, and present discoveries at departmental seminars or scientific meetings. Priority will be given to selected candidates, who can work independently, or with the supervisor and/or with other investigators to develop new research directions and to establish an externally funded research program. The research scientist is expected to participate in the research design phase and in the preparation of research proposals that will be initiated by the candidate or other investigators. The research scientist is expected to be an independent researcher in their area(s) of interest notwithstanding group or collaborative science and apply for grant funding as PI. The selected candidate will also participate collaboratively with other Principal investigators within and outside of CWRU. The position will require the incumbent to perform tasks in an organized manner, work accurately, meet deadlines, and employ excellent problem-solving skills.
- Plan and execute projects in collaboration with faculty members from CWRU and other institutions.
- Perform data analysis using computer models and statistical tools.
- Prepare manuscripts and contribute preliminary data, background and significance, and experimental designs for grant proposals.
- Work in collaboration with faculty members to write and apply for research grants as principal investigator.
Development of new methodologies and validation of existing approaches to health outcomes research.
Supervise postdoctoral scholars, graduate students and undergraduate students in human subjects’ research and data analysis for a variety of projects related to family medicine and community health.
Experience: Candidate should have a minimum of three years of experience in a research-intensive environment, and a track record that includes peer-reviewed publications. A record of successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team is also necessary.
Education/Licensing: Candidates should have a PhD in a related discipline such as epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics, psychology or other relevant field. Candidates with an MD and a research background through fellowship training or an advanced degree are also welcome to apply.
