  1. Statement of research and scientific responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include: Under the oversight of the PI, independently leading and executing between 3-4 projects in collaboration with the PI and collaborators as well as other faculty members from CWRU and other academic institutions. Conducting research for a variety of biological and potentially clinical problems based upon the interests of the collaborating PIs. Developing new research directions and working with PI to submit applications for funding. Performing data analysis utilizing tools available in the laboratory or will participate in the development of new tools if necessary. Participating in discovery based development of new interventional radiology approaches. Preparing preliminary data, background and significance and experimental design for manuscripts and grant proposals. Supervising and mentoring new postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduate students in conducting sample preparation, experimental design and data analysis of a variety of projects.


  1. Technical skills

Experience with lipid-based nanoparticle formulation, functionalization, optical imaging and in vitro and in vivo characterization

Experience in medical ultrasound, acoustics, bubble dynamics, signal processing and related specialized techniques is highly desirable

Expertise in cell culture and cell-based assays and basic molecular biology techniques such as protein extraction and quantification


Ability to execute in vivo studies involving the handling, care and use of laboratory animals and surgical procedures related to tumor inoculation and therapy are desirable.

Other related skills include the development and discovery of new methodologies and validation of the existing approaches in drug delivery for cancer therapy, specifically in formulation, characterization and assessment of ultrasound contrast agents, or nanobubbles, and microbubbles along with related cell and in vivo assays


  1. Supervisory Responsibilities


Supervise Laboratory Research Assistant, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students and undergraduate students in medical image processing and data analysis for a variety of projects in the Center.


  1. Education Requirements


PhD degree in biomedical or chemical engineering, physics, biophysics, radiological sciences or related fields

5-7 years of prior postdoctoral experience

      Multiple peer-reviewed research publications



$50-$60K per year
