Senior Research Associate position in The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has a Senior Research Associate position available in the areas of biomedical informatics. Successful candidates will have at least 10 years’ experience and extensive publications in computer science, biomedical informatics, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and systems biology applied to drug discovery, disease mechanism understanding, gut microbiome and drug safety surveillance.
The responsibilities for this position include (1) designing and developing natural language processing and artificial intelligence algorithms to automatically extract biomedical knowledge from research articles, patient records and other free-text documents; (2) designing and developing new algorithms for drug discovery, drug repositioning and disease genetics prediction; (3) designing and developing new algorithms to understand environment-gene interactions in human diseases; (4) presenting research results at national and international conferences; (5) writing research papers; (6) actively participating in grant preparation and writing .
The Candidate will have formal training in computer sciences and technical skills in computer science and biomedical informatics – natural language processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, knowledge representation and reasoning, pattern recognition, graph theory, network and path analysis, systems biology. The candidate will have formal training in biomedical sciences and deep knowledge in biomedical sciences, including drug discovery, disease genetics, gut microbiome, drug surveillance, and genetic pathways
