Lucinda S. Lavelli

2013 Professional Achievement Award: Lucinda S. Lavelli (MGF '71, MGT '91)

Lucinda S. Lavelli is the first female dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Florida. In her role she oversees a school of more than 1,100 majors, 102 faculty and 32 staff. The school offers baccalaureate, masters and doctoral programs; interdisciplinary centers, institutes, and affiliates including: the Center for Arts and Public Policy; Center for World Arts; Center for the Arts in Medicine; Digital Worlds Institute of the University galleries; and the college program of the arts conservatory, New World School of the Arts in Miami. Previously, she has served as chairwoman of performing arts and director of dance at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, director of the School of Dance and later as director of the School of Dance, Theater and Arts Administration at the University of Akron, and as the first provost and vice chancellor for Arts and Academics at North Carolina School of the Arts. Holding two degrees from Case Western Reserve, she has demonstrated throughout her professional career accomplishments at each stage in her life and bestows great honor to herself and the CWRU community for utilizing her education to achieve her professional achievements.
