CHEMICAL DYNAMICS explores the time-dependent behavior of matter, on dimensions from the individual molecule to nanoscale materials to acroscopic substances. In the CCD, we probe relatively fast processes that occur in nanoseconds (10-9 seconds) to femtoseconds (10-15 seconds), using light pulses to initiate and follow the dynamics of interest.
