The play Antigone can provoke questions, disagreement, and multiple interpretations; however, this process of discourse can lead to active and fruitful conversation. This year is the fifth time the Cleveland Play House (CPH) has performed Antigone in over a century. This history is contained in the Cleveland Play House Archive Collection at Kelvin Smith Library Case Western Reserve University and is celebrated with the exhibit Antigone in the Archives. This exhibit documents CPH’s past performances of Antigone from the 1930s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1990s and explores each production’s adaptation and production techniques.
