General Information for Prospective Undergraduate Students

The Department of Music at Case Western Reserve University offers undergraduate students a wide range of opportunities for musical study and participation, many of which take advantage of our Joint Music Program with the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Students wishing to major in music at CWRU can pursue a BA in Music or a BS in Music Education. All degree programs require submission of a video audition, and the BS in Music Education requires a live audition as well. If you are interested in applying to any of these programs, please click on the links above for information about application and audition procedures.

Students may also pursue the minor in music, which does not require an audition.

For students who do not wish to major or minor in music but want to participate in musical activities on campus, our many performing ensembles are open to all CWRU students, and we offer (for a fee) music lessons with faculty from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
